ANTA Shanghai Global Retail Headquarters is situated in the core area of West Hongqiao, Qingpu, with a total investment of over 2 billion yuan and a total construction area of about 145,000 square meters. The iconic building features a closed circular running track on each floor (around 10,000 steps per lap) and a programmable dynamic lighting facade with colorful night-time visuals. The complex integrates office, R&D, retail, sports park, apartment and hotel functions, bringing highly complex pedestrian and logistics flows.
In this environment, the signage system goes far beyond basic wayfinding. As a core part of environmental graphic design, it first translates ANTA’s "Keep Moving" brand spirit into visual language—from lobby brand walls to floor wayfinding modules, all signage materials, lighting effects and shapes must align with the overall architectural design. Second, it builds a clear, efficient and redundant wayfinding logic for mixed pedestrian, visitor and logistics flows, acting as the "visual nervous system" of the campus to ensure operational efficiency. Third, it integrates with architectural aesthetics to enhance the overall design rather than disrupt it.
The on-site signage layout and setting-out stage is particularly critical. There are always deviations between construction drawings and actual site conditions, such as wall verticality, embedded part positions and pipeline routes differing by millimeters to centimeters. Without 1:1 on-site layout, finished signage products may conflict with curtain wall keels, be blocked by fire hydrants or mismatch power points, leading to on-site cutting, rework and damage to finished decorations. Using total stations and laser levels to fix positions before factory production is the most effective way to control signage installation quality.
On-site layout also verifies real-space sign visibility and readability. Drawing-specified heights and angles may perform poorly in actual walking, standing or driving scenarios. For example, improper angles of trackside sign panels can cause daytime glare or night-time light washout, while underground garage wall signs may be blocked by SUVs if improperly positioned. Temporary mock-ups and human visibility tests during on-site layout optimize final installation parameters.

Coordination is another key factor. With simultaneous construction of interior decoration, curtain wall, electromechanical and landscape disciplines, signage embedded parts, wiring conduits and power points require joint surveying with all parties. Early on-site layout and cross-professional coordination ensure signage alignment with stone joints, lighting integration and track flow, achieving integrated delivery of the entire wayfinding signage system.
