Denmark's Hornbæk Hotel Signage Completes Production, Ready to Ship

The ZIGO workshop recently finished a distinctive batch of signage — the wayfinding system for CORI Hornbæk Hotel in Denmark. This boutique hotel sits in Hornbæk, a coastal town north of Copenhagen. The wayfinding design was led by Danish studio Urgent.Agency, with ZIGO handling detail engineering, fabrication, and supply.

The standout piece is the elevator lobby floor directory. Instead of a conventional rectangle, it's a slim ellipse — 30 cm wide, 80 cm tall. Three layers: a 1.5 mm electroplated antique bronze stainless steel backplate, a 5 mm amber textured glass face, and an antique bronze steel frame wrapping the glass edge. Text is printed in Sand Beige on the smooth side of the glass. The textured glass behind it shifts subtly with the light — different feel by day and by night. The design brief specified non-illuminated from the start, letting natural and ambient light do the work. More refined than LED backlighting, and far more durable.

Two things demanded close attention in fabrication. First, the grain direction of the textured glass had to stay consistent — mixed directions on a single sign are immediately visible. Second, color matching on the antique bronze electroplating had to be tight. We pulled all material for the project from one production batch to avoid on-site color mismatches.

Alongside the elevator directories , the system includes restroom signs— small 8 x 24 cm elliptical plates using the exact same materials and finish. The trick with serial signage design is keeping the material language identical across large and small signs. Run two different systems and the spatial quality breaks.

Production followed our standard flow: a 1:1 physical sample for client approval, then bulk production with full pre-shipment inspection covering surface, dimensions, color consistency, and print clarity. Glass panels got a dedicated fragile-packaging setup — pearl cotton plus wooden crates.
