US Mobile Retailer Visits ZIGO, Decides on Illuminated Channel Letters

 Last week a mobile phone retailer from the US visited ZIGO's factory in Shenzhen. He had come for routine supplier visits, but after touring the workshop he stayed an extra half day to talk about illuminated channel letters.

He runs several phone stores in the US. His current signage uses printed decals and basic lightboxes that fade and yellow, and at night you can barely read the store name from across the street. He wanted channel letters but had two concerns: that an overseas factory's output would look far off from the design, and that future stores might not match the existing ones as the chain grows.

In the factory he focused on three areas. The letter fabrication shop, where bending, welding, and grinding are finished cleanly — he looked for the weld points on a sample and couldn't find them at first. The coating and assembly line, temperature- and humidity-controlled, with baking time and temperature logged per batch; he compared finished pieces from different batches for color consistency. The light testing area, where front-lit, halo-lit, and lightbox options were lit side by side. He leaned toward front-lit — a phone store needs to stand out on a commercial street, and front illumination reads more clearly.

On the actual project he raised four practical points. Certification: electrical signage in the US must comply with UL standards covering LED power supplies, wiring, and insulation ratings, and we've handled many US export projects, so the documentation is ready. Standardization: we produce a full-size physical sample first; once the client approves color, letter thickness, and illumination, we lock it. Later stores adjust dimensions to each storefront while process parameters stay unchanged, so every store looks like the same brand. Packaging: built to letter dimensions with internal bracing and each letter secured, plus installation drawings and a fastener list. Lead time: scheduled backward from his new-store openings in the first half of next year, sample first then batch production, and afterwards an order only needs storefront dimensions.

Before leaving he put it plainly: he had always assumed sourcing signage from China meant taking on risk. After seeing the factory, he felt far more confident.
